Payment methods and checkout settings

After connecting the module, open Saferpay → Configure in the Module Manager and select the intended individual shop.

Choose checkout options

The Checkout payment methods table contains an enable switch, title, description and store-availability indicator for each option.

  1. Check that the selected store is the right one and its payment methods are synchronized.
  2. Enable the checkout options you want customers to use.
  3. Adjust their visible titles and descriptions.
  4. Click Save and inspect the shop checkout.
Option How it appears
Saferpay One general option; the customer chooses a supported method on the hosted payment page
Credit card One grouped option for the synchronized card brands
Individual methods Separate options such as VISA, Mastercard, TWINT, PayPal or PostFinance Pay, when available for the store
Wallets Separate Apple Pay, Google Pay or Click to Pay options, subject to store and browser/device eligibility

Enable the general option, individual methods or a deliberate combination. Showing both the card group and separate card brands can give customers duplicate choices.

An enabled checkbox does not activate a method with the payment provider. Separate methods are shown only when the selected store reports them as available; an empty capability list does not enable all methods. The general Saferpay option does not prove that every method is available.

PrestaShop payment restrictions

Review Payment → Preferences as well as the module settings. PrestaShop can restrict payment modules by currency, customer group, country and carrier. Save the applicable restrictions for the shop. See the official PrestaShop payment-preferences guide.

The payment provider's currency and method requirements also apply. In this module, the separate Apple Pay option is filtered to Safari; test it on a supported Apple device with an eligible wallet.

Insert a test checkout showing the intended Saferpay options and the grouped card logos. Use a synthetic cart/customer and omit personal details. Capture Apple Pay separately on an eligible device if it is offered. Suggested filename: checkout-en.png.

Capture mode and order states

Setting Intended behavior
Capture payments immediately Requests payment capture as part of the payment workflow, where supported
Authorize only Reserves the amount; capture is a later action, where supported
Order state for paid payments The PrestaShop state applied to a confirmed paid/captured payment
Order state for authorized payments The state applied when a payment is authorized but not yet captured

Choose distinct, meaningful paid and authorized states. Check the selected PrestaShop states' invoice, stock and email effects. Changing an order's state manually does not itself capture or refund a payment.

Support for authorization, capture and cancellation depends on the payment method. See Managing payments and Saferpay's transaction-interface documentation.

Aliases and recurring payments

Register aliases for subscription payments requests a reusable payment reference for an eligible method. Enable it only for a compatible subscription integration and the intended customer-consent flow. This switch alone does not create subscriptions, billing schedules or automatic renewals.

Save changes and complete the test checklist.
